Abstract
|
|
|
Purpose: This study was to identify the effects of the application of elastic compression stockings during the hours of practical training on edema and pain of lower extremity in hospital student nurses.
Method: This study was carried out using quasi experiment design with a non-equivalent control group. The data were analyzed by independent samples t-test using SPSS Win 20.0 program.
Result: As a result of the study, there were significant differences in lower extremity edema between experiments and control group. (Rt. ankle: t=-6.524, p=0.001, Lt. ankle: t=-6.163, p=0.001 / Rt. calf : t=-6.419, p=0.001, Lt. calf: t=-7.295, p=0.001). Also, there were significant differences in lower extremity pain between experiments and control group. (Rt. : t=-7.497, p=0.001 / Lt. : t=-8.739, p=0.001).
Conclusion: The results of this study revealed that the application of elastic compression stockings during the hours of practical training is effective on the relief of edema and pain of lower extremity in hospital student urses.
